Israeli soldier killed in Gaza, says Israeli army

An Israeli soldier has been killed by a Palestinian sniper in Gaza City, said the Israeli military.

The soldier was identified as a 21-year-old staff sergeant from the Nahal Brigade.

He is at least the second soldier to die in combat during the Israeli ground invasion of Gaza’s largest urban centre, after an army officer was killed on Tuesday.
