Colombian president: Statements not enough, we must use force against Israel

Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Wednesday told Al Jazeera that statements condemning Israel's crimes in Palestine are not enough and "force is needed to confront the occupation".

"Those accused of committing genocide in Gaza must be arrested and brought before the International Criminal Court," he said. 

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is hearing South Africa's genocide case over Gaza, where more than 65,400 people, mostly women and children, have been killed by Israel since October 2023.

UN investigators have said that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
