Sweden calls for restoration of medical corridor from Gaza to West Bank 

Sweden’s Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard on Wednesday called on Israel to restore a medical corridor to allow patients to be transferred from Gaza to the occupied West Bank for treatment.

In a social media post on US compnay X, she said, "In light of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, it is crucial that severely ill patients receive the medical treatment they need."

"According to WHO, evacuations to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is one of the fastest and most effective routes. Together with 25 other donors, Sweden calls on Israel to allow patients from Gaza to receive the necessary medical treatment there," the minister said. 

More than two dozen countries have signed a joint statement, initiated by Denmark, calling for the restoration of the medical corridor and urging Israel to lift restrictions on deliveries of medicine and medical equipment to Gaza in line with international law.
