Israeli 'massacre' leaves 20 killed in bombing of displaced Palestinians

An Israeli "massacre" left at least 20 Palestinians killed on Wednesday when a building sheltering displaced families in Gaza City was hit, the civil defence said.

The air strikes targeted a residential block near Firas market in the Daraj neighbourhood, wounding several others.

Medics rushed bodies to hospital as panic and chaos swept through the area.

Footage showed residents attempting to pull victims trapped under the rubble.

One video showed people collecting scattered body parts. Another showed the dead wrapped in shrouds and lined up in a darkened room.

Israeli bombardment across the Gaza Strip killed at least 50 people on Wednesday as of noon local time, according to health officials. 

Since the genocide began nearly two years ago, more than 65,000 have been killed, including at least 20,000 children. 

More than 80 percent of those killed are civilians, according to data leaked from Israeli military.

Last month, Israel launched an intensified bombing campaign on Gaza City ahead of a planned full occupation of the famine-stricken Strip.

Earlier this month, Israeli ground forces began a second invasion of the city.

Throughout the offensive, the Israeli army used explosive-laden robots to carry out systematic demolitions aimed at destroying the city's buildings and displacing the remaining residents.

According to the Government Media Office in Gaza, around 335,000 people in Gaza City and the northern Strip have been forced from their homes due to expulsion orders and relentless bombardment in recent weeks. 

The Israeli army claims that around 600,000 have fled, leaving nearly half a million still inside the city.
