After Israeli threat, drones hover over Global Sumud Flotilla

More than 15 drones flew at low altitude over one of the boats of the Global Sumud Flotilla on Monday, Anadolu news agency has reported.

Organisers of the flotilla called the move an attempt to intimidate the humanitarian group and a "possible intelligence-gathering operation".

In a post on X, the flotilla said the drones appeared “roughly every 10 minutes” over a ship called the Alma, which is part of the convoy aiming to reach Gaza and challenge Israel’s illegal blockade.

“We believe these drones are intended to intimidate, potentially gathering intelligence for Israel,” the group said.

Israel on Tuesday threatened the Flotilla, saying it "will take the necessary measures to prevent its entry into the combat zone and to stop any violation of a lawful naval blockade”.

Earlier this week, Israel’s foreign ministry had warned the vessels against approaching Gaza’s coast, saying it should transfer the aid to Ashkelon port.

The flotilla, which includes dozens of boats, aims to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza and deliver aid to the besieged enclave.
