Gaza’s health ministry says Israeli forces have attacked 38 hospitals since October 2023, killing at least 1,723 medical staff.
Munir al-Bursh, the ministry’s director general, told Al Jazeera Arabic that the St John Eye Hospital, the al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital and the Sheikh Hamad Hospital in Gaza City have all been forced out of service.
He warned that Israel’s siege, which blocks the entry of vital aid including fuel, is pushing Gaza’s health system to collapse. Al-Bursh said hospitals could be forced to shut down entirely within 48 hours if fuel supplies are not allowed in.
