Israel must deliver aid to civilians in Gaza, says UNGA president

President of the United Nations General Assembly Annalena Baerbock on Monday said that Israel must deliver aid to civilians in Gaza, adding that settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem undermines the prospects for a political solution. 

Baerbock made the comments as France recognised the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in New York City, following recognition by the UK, Australia and Canada on Sunday. 

"Gaza's children have been terrified for more than 700 days. We cannot ignore Hind Rajab's voice when the car she was in was bombed," Baerbock said.

"The world failed the Gazan child Hind Rajab and the Israeli child Kfir Bibas. Humanity is not about choosing one side over another, but about realising that every life has equal value," Baerbock added.
