Israeli attacks have killed at least 50 Palestinians across Gaza City alone as Israel's genocide enters its 713th day.

In other developments:

• The Israeli army said its forces were advancing towards the city centre from two sides, trapping residents and forcing them towards the coast.

• Army spokesperson Nadav Shoshani told Reuters that infantry, tanks and artillery were pushing deeper into the city, backed by air strikes, to increase pressure on Hamas.

• In Washington, a group of US senators introduced the first resolution urging recognition of a Palestinian state, signalling a shift in US political debate nearly two years into Israel’s war on Gaza.

• At the UN, the United States vetoed a Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, once again shielding Israel from international diplomatic pressure.
