Spain to investigate human rights violations in Gaza in cooperation ICC
Spain will investigate human rights violations in Gaza in cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC), the General Prosecutor's Office said on Thursday, news agency AFP has reported.
"The Attorney General of the State has issued a decree deciding the creation of a task force to investigate violations of international human rights law in Gaza," the prosecutor's office said in a statement, in order to "gather evidence and make it available to the competent body, thus respecting Spain's obligations in matters of international cooperation and human rights."
ICC has an ongoing investigation into the allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel.
In November 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leaders.
