Israel kills displaced Palestinians in strike on car fleeing Gaza City

An Israeli air strike hit a car carrying displaced civilians fleeing Gaza City on Tuesday, killing at least five Palestinians and wounding several others.
The strike hit the vehicle near al-Katiba Mosque in the Old City, west of Gaza, leaving it engulfed in flames.
Footage from the scene shows plumes of smoke rising from the car as civilians scream and rush to help the victims.
Several people lie motionless on the ground, bloodied and wounded from the blast, while others scramble to extinguish the fire.
In another video, bystanders gather around the smouldering remains of the vehicle, reduced to charred metal in the aftermath of the strike.
Local media reported at least five people were killed in the attack, including children and women.
The strike is one of several incidents in which the Israeli military has targeted civilian vehicles in Gaza since the start of its genocide.

Translation: "Oh God, displaced children martyred"... Israeli warplanes target a vehicle carrying displaced people from Gaza City.
Cars belonging to displaced families, rescue teams and journalists have all come under fire in recent months.
Earlier this year, several Palestinians were wounded when Israeli forces struck a vehicle travelling along the coastal road west of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, despite a declared ceasefire being in effect at the time.
In late December, five Palestinian journalists were killed in an Israeli air strike on a clearly marked press vehicle outside a hospital in central Gaza, according to Palestinian officials and multiple media outlets.
In both cases, the Israeli military claimed the vehicles were “suspicious” or believed to be carrying Palestinian fighters, but provided no evidence to support the allegations.
The most infamous case was the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab with her family as they were fleeing Israel's assault on Tel al-Hawa, south of Gaza City, by car.
Gaza City invasion
Last month, Israel intensified its bombardment of Gaza City ahead of a full-scale ground invasion to occupy the city, which the army said officially began on Tuesday.
Since 13 August, more than 1,900 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza City alone, including nearly 500 children and over 170 women, according to Palestinian health officials.

Relentless attacks by Israeli warplanes, tanks, explosive-laden ground robots and armed quadcopters have forced tens of thousands of residents to flee as strikes edge closer to their homes.
Many civilians have been displaced within the city itself, while others have fled south in search of shelter.
The Israeli military has designated the entirety of Gaza City - home to over one million civilians - as a combat zone.
Since the war began nearly two years ago, Israeli forces have killed at least 64,900 Palestinians and wounded more than 165,000, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Leaked Israeli military data indicates that over 80 percent of those killed are civilians, including nearly 20,000 children, based on figures provided by Palestinian health officials.
