Egyptians prepare to join Sumud Flotilla to break Gaza siege

Dozens of prominent Egyptians, including former lawmakers, academics, journalists and artists, have called for organising and joining the Global Sumud Flotilla to challenge Israel’s Gaza siege.

The group said in a statement that preparing an Egyptian delegation for the flotilla was a “national and ethical responsibility.”

“We affirm that Egypt’s participation in this flotilla is an urgent and non-negotiable duty, reinforcing its historic role in supporting the Palestinian people,” the statement said.

The group said a fundraiser would be announced soon, noting the flotilla would rely on in-kind donations due to legal restrictions. It also urged captains, engineers and crews to take part in the initiative.
