The 100-word ceasefire proposal Trump sent to Hamas: Report

The Trump administration gave Hamas an unmarked and unsigned, five-point summary outlining US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a Gaza ceasefire over the weekend, according to Drop Site News.

Hamas officials who spoke with Drop Site expressed deep reservations and scepticism about the proposal, with one senior official saying, "It looks like it was written by the Israelis."

The five bullet points call for Hamas to release all the Israeli hostages held in Gaza within 48 hours of signing the agreement.

It says that Hamas and Israel will begin talks set to last for 60 days, during which a ceasefire will hold in Gaza. The language is roughly similar to that used in January in a ceasefire that Israel broke.

The topics to negotiate seem to differ from the January agreement in some ways. It says talks will focus on "the definition of Hamas, the definition of disarmament, the formation of a new government, the withdrawal of Israeli forces upon the formation of the government or upon successful conclusion of negotiations, and amnesty for Hamas members".

The proposal does not stipulate early Israeli withdrawals from Gaza or other such steps, including control of the Rafah border crossing.
